MRS. DRUNELL DRUNETT RUSSELL YOUNG

Mrs. Drunell Drunett Russell Young, affectionately known as “Deedee”, was born in Americus, Georgia on November 3, 1961, to the late Mr. Allen Jerome Williams and the late Mrs. Yinestra Yvonne Williams. She departed this life on Sunday, July 22, 2018, in the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Deedee was born third of four children. In 1981, Drunell married Mr. Jerome Russell and to this union, Cerrome, Sheena and Yernisha were born. In 2000, Drunell married Mr. Nathaniel Young.

Drunell joined the New Hope A.M.E. Church in Smithville, Georgia, where she worked briefly as a missionary. She attended Plains High School until its closing in 1979. She then continued her education at South Georgia Technical School; there she attained a Georgia Equivalency Diploma. Drunell continued her trade and studies at South Georgia Technical College, earning a diploma in Automotive Body Repair Technology. In later years, she returned to South Georgia Technical College to enhance her skill in Auto Collision Repair Technology. She was a true artist at heart. Drunell loved all forms of art. She participated in various “New Beginnings” art projects. Family and friends found pleasure in the various sketches, paintings, crafts and crocheted items that she created. It was her life’s dream to instruct and guide children in the understanding and exploration of aesthetics and the development of their crafts. She also completed several independent and commercial projects requiring her skill in automotive repair.

Drunell is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Nathaniel Young and a brother, Petty Officer Darin Jerome Williams, USN.

Mrs. Young leaves a legacy of love and memories to her very devoted family consisting of two daughters, Mrs. Yernisha (Lanard) Divorce and Mrs. Sheena (Robert) Burton, all of Americus, GA; one son, Mr. Cerrome (Maura) Russell, Reston, VA; most precious to her were her sixteen grandchildren: Ms. Leila Russell, San Antonio, TX; Ms. Aalyah Burton, Ms. Tyra Acres, Ms. Sydney Burton, Ms. Shyria Burton, Master Robert Burton, III, Master Noah Russell, Little Miss Roie Burton, Master Trayvon Burton, all of Americus, GA; Master Lucas Russell, Little Miss Lilly Russell, Master Levi Russell and Little Miss Lena Russell, all of Reston, VA; two brothers, Mr. Anthony (Bernice) Williams and Mr. Durante (Thereases) Williams, all of Americus, GA

She is also survived by a host of very supportive and loving nieces and nephews who she absolutely adored: Mr. Tavires (Noelle) Williams, Macon, GA; Ms. Sabrina (Markus) Wright, Americus, GA; Mr. Ante’ Williams, Snellville, GA; Mrs. Tameal (Franako) Smith, Newport News, VA; Dr. Brittany Williams, DC, Marietta, GA; and Mrs. Nihchondra (Timothy) Mallard, Valdosta, GA; her aunts and uncles: Ms. Lucy Stinson, Ms. Leila Stinson, Ms. Delois Blount, Ms. Alice Williams, Ms. Rosetta Williams and Mr. Clarence Williams, all of Flint, MI; her godmother, Mrs. Mattie (Bonny) Russell, Americus, GA; her very broad support system extended its love and support as well to her step children, Ms. Gelisa Russell, Mr. Travis Williams, all of Americus, GA; Mr. Lawrence Gay and family including: daughters, Mrs. Canyon (Tim) Fredrick and children, Smithville, GA; Mrs. Kimberly (Dave) Page and children, Americus, GA; Ms. Bernice Tullis, Americus, GA and Ms. Vernell Hollis, Plains, GA; also survive.
