Barnum Funeral Home

Mrs. Georgia Yvonne Frazier Berkeley was born August 6, 1950, in Roberta, Crawford County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Lewis Frazier and the late Mrs. Mary Alice Mathis Frazier. However, it was her grandmother, Ms. Annie Bell Mathis who rooted her in the truth. In August of 1965, at the age of 15, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. After completing high school in 1968, she entered the full-time service. While pioneering in Fort Valley, Georgia, she met her life-long partner, Arthur Berkeley. Two years later August 22, 1970, they were married. This was the beginning of a truly remarkable journey as full-time ministers of Jehovah for over 50 years in Fort Valley and Americus, Georgia. In 1979, they were invited to the 68th class of Gilead. After graduation, they were privileged to serve as missionaries in the following countries: Central African Republic, Burkina Faso and Senegal. These assignments lasted from 1980-1996 but ended due to illness. Soon afterwards, they were able to engage in the substitute circuit work in the United States in both English and French languages. Also, they were privileged to instruct others in a foreign language. Their assignments included the states of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Connecticut and New York. In the end with declining mobility, Georgia would always request Arthur to pray for the sanctification of Jehovah’s name and Jehovah’s help in making wise decisions. This she requested till the very end. Georgia is preceded in death by her brothers, Tony Mathis and Timothy West and her sister, Willie Bell Johnson.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 48 years, Mr. Arthur Berkeley; her siblings: Mr. Willie (Susan) Frazier, Schenectady, NY; Ms. Mary Odom, Warner Robins, GA; Ms. Teresa West, Syracuse, NY and Mr. Elliot West of Bonaire, GA; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Ms. Josephine Berkeley, Americus, GA; Mrs. Edna (Donald) Keith of Cusseta, GA; Mr. George (Adelia) Berkeley, Midlothian, VA and Mr. Michael (Tracy) Berkeley of Bronx, NY; devoted nieces, Monica and Tiffany Odom, Warner Robins, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and spiritual children in the United States and Africa also survive.
