Americus-Sumter High School recently recognized staff member Eric Brown for “an outstanding work ethic and dedication to the school’s mission.” ASHS principal Kimothy Hadley presented the award to Brown in a ceremony held in the school library. For his service Brown received a brass plaque and then posed for a photo with Hadley and assistant principal Todd Vickery. “It’s nice to be appreciated,” Brown said.
A Sumter County Schools employee since 2007, Mr. Brown has worked at ASHS for the past six years where he offers instructional support to teachers and mentors students. Brown was surprised when his name was called during the ceremony. “It’s an honor to receive this award,” he said. “It feels good to know that all the work I do on a daily basis hasn’t gone unnoticed.” Brown is the first to receive the “Support Staff of the Month” award at ASHS.
Hadley spoke very highly of Brown in a short speech during the presentation. “Mr. Eric Brown has a strong commitment to team work, and does everything in his power to help our students achieve, academically, behaviorally and athletically. He is a huge asset for everyone here at Americus-Sumter High School.”
