Ms. Dorothy Jean Floyd
Ms. Dorothy Jean Floyd, affectionately called “Dot”, was born in Sumter County, Georgia on April 20, 1960 to the parentage of the late Mr. Oscar Lee Prince and the late Mrs. Bernice Floyd Prince. Ms. Floyd received her education in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1979 graduate of Union High School, Leslie, Georgia. At an early age, she joined the Blooming Rose Baptist Church, where she served faithfully and was a member of the Board of Ushers. Ms. Floyd was the caregiver for her parents, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She had a heart of gold and would help everyone.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Floyd is preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Charlie Prince and Mr. Hollis Floyd, Sr.; her grandparents, Mr. Ike Floyd, Jr., Mrs. Riscoe Burton Floyd and Mr. Albert Prince, Sr.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Willie Walton, Sr.; ten uncles: Mr. Andrew Floyd, Mr. Tommy Floyd, Mr. Ike Floyd, III, Mr. Jimmy Lee Floyd, Sr., Mr. Nathan Edge, Rev. Marcellous Willis, Mr. Allen Robinson, Sr., Master Ronnie Prince, Mr. Willie Lee Prince and Mr. Albert Prince, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Mr. Kenny Floyd and friend Ms. Shell Hart and Mr. Darryl Davis, Jr., all of Americus, GA; one grandson, Master Kendrell Brown, Americus, GA; her grandmother, Mrs. Eula Mae Sampson Prince of Americus, GA; four brothers: Mr. Emmett Floyd and friend Caroline Barron, Leslie, GA; Mr. Arthur (Sandra) Prince, Desoto, GA; Mr. Willie (Linda) Prince, Americus, GA and Mr. Bobby (Stacy) Prince, Albany, GA; three sisters: Ms. Patricia Walton, Mrs. Christine (Patrick) Harris and Mrs. Brenda (James) Baker, all of Americus, GA; ten uncles: Mr. David (Mary) Prince, Mr. Ernest (Barbara) Prince, Mr. Sampson Prince, Mr. James Prince, Mr. David Floyd and friend Geraldine Kimbrough, Mr. James Floyd, Mr. Ernest (Joann) Floyd, all of Americus, GA; Mr. Amos Floyd, Leesburg, GA; Mr. John (Pat) Floyd, Cordele, GA and Mr. John Lee (Susie) Prince, Belle Glade, FL; ten aunts: Mrs. Betty (Anno) Harris, Mrs. Reatha B. (John) Dowdell, Mrs. Delois (Rev. Karl) Wilson, Ms. Dorothy Queenie, Mrs. Barbara (John) Boone, Ms. Stella Floyd Robinson, Ms. Rosa Floyd, all of Americus, GA; Ms. Anna Willis, Leslie, GA and Ms. Mattie Mae Edge, Albany, GA; Ms. Mary Floyd, Detroit, MI; a sister-in-law, Ms. Mary Jean Floyd, Leslie, GA; 30 nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Ms. Shanterria Prince; 50 great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends: Mrs. Rita Mann, Ms. Patricia Lassiter, Minister Lucy McKenize, Ms. Jimmie Lee Richardson and Mrs. Gladys Polk also survive.
