Deacon Henry Lee Howard
Deacon Henry Lee Howard was born in Lee County, Georgia on December 25, 1929, to the parentage of the late Ms. Zimmer Howard. He received his education in the Sumter County School System. He was a member of the New Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he served until his health failed. Mr. Howard was well-respected as a deacon both in Georgia and Florida, committing more than 44 years of servant leadership. For over 28 years, he was employed as a bus operator with the Miami Dade County Transit System. Mr. Howard was a lifelong fisherman. He was funny and down to earth. Mr. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by two children, Rose Howard and Cary Howard; three sisters: Ms. Minnie Howard, Ms. Betsy Howard and Ms. Strautie Mae Howard; seven brothers: Mr. George Howard, Mr. Charlie Howard, Mr. Arthur Howard, Mr. Clarence Howard, Mr. Willie C. Howard, Mr. Lee Howard and Mr. Rufus Turntine.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 71 years, Mrs. Estella Girven Howard, Leslie, GA; four sons: Mr. Leon (Mildred) Howard, Miami, FL; Mr. Lawrence Howard, Leslie, GA; Mr. Clarence Howard and Mr. Anthony Howard, both of Americus, GA; three daughters: Mrs. Pamela (Timothy) Howard-Fudge-Martin, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Mrs. Kimberly (Kelvin) Hugley, Miami, FL and Mrs. Sherri (Devon) Gayle, Denton, TX; two sisters, Ms. Daisy Crumbley, Miami, FL and Ms. Annie Lou Carter, Albany, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
