Mr. Jerome Durham
Mr. Jerome Durham was born May 18, 1956, in Americus, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Edgar George Durham and the late Mrs. Lucille Sanders Durham, and to their union twenty-three children were born. Jerome attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he joined the Triedstone Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. L. Clark. For many years, he served on the Board of Deacons. He retired as a butcher from the Golden Corral Restaurant. Until his health started to take a toll on him, he was employed as a janitor at Americus High School. He received his Black Belt and taught Karate classes.
He is preceded in death by several siblings, including brothers, Mr. Henry Lee Durham and Mr. Willie Lee Couch and sisters: Ms. Martha Ann Journey, Mrs. Lutricia Handy, Mrs. Sally Mae Chambliss and Ms. Mary Pearl Mays.
He is survived by three sons: Mr. William Roger Mansfield and wife, Robin, Atlanta, GA; Mr. Murray Hinton, Jacksonville, FL and Mr. William Jerome Durham, Jr. and wife, Latrell of Warner Robins, GA; four daughters: Ms. Sharon Searcy and fiancé, Sedezier, Mrs. LaShonda Waymon and husband, Chancey, all of Warner Robins, GA, Mrs. Jermonica Baisden and husband, Arthur of Preston, GA and Ms. Teyunna McCoy Durham, Americus, GA; two brothers, Mr. Albert Durham and Mr. Maurice Durham, both of Americus, GA; five sisters: Mrs. Georgia Mae Solomon, Mrs. Gloria Moore and husband, James, Ms. Sandra Thompson, Ms. Brenda Green and husband, Rod, all of Americus, GA and Ms. Thelma Dodson and husband, Joe of Jacksonville, FL; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two god-children, Mr. Willie Patillo and Ms. Linda James, both of Americus, GA; and a host of nieces, including, Ms. Vicky Johnson and Ms. Gabrielle Reynolds; nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
